Free Assistance — Enroll on Health Insurance

Thousands of Oregonians remain uninsured. It is because they failed to enroll on health insurance during the open enrollment period. Many are now facing the consequences for their inaction by experiencing thousands upon thousands of dollars in mounting medical bills. Compounding the problem, many of those uninsured did not qualify for the Medicaid, better known as Oregon Health Plan as well.

Most Oregonians are now required to apply for coverage since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2013. This is during a limited open enrollment period. It normally starts Nov. 1st and ends Jan. 30 of the following year.

Health Plans In Oregon has helped thousands of Oregonians enroll and secure health coverage during these limited enrollment periods. Despite failing to apply for coverage, there are exceptions to this mandate.

This includes:

  • changes to anyone’s household living conditions within the next or last 60 days
  • newly married couples
  • having a baby
  • adopting a child
  • getting divorced or legally separated
  • death
  • change of permanent residence
  • change in income
  • gaining U.S. Citizenship or legal immigration status in the country
  • release from incarceration

In addition, Oregonians may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period if:

  • they’ve lost coverage due to losing a job
  • losing individual health coverage for a plan or policy purchased privately
  • losing eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP, losing eligibility for Medicare
  • and losing coverage through a family member

Health Plans In Oregon is actively working to secure coverage for those who may qualify for coverage outside the normal enrollment periods. Call us at 503-928-6918.
