Over 14 million individuals who are enrolled in Medicare also opted in on Medicare Advantage plans. Medicare Advantage plans allow individuals to receive Part A and Part B benefits through a private heath insurer. This allows services such as hospitalization, outpatient care, and even prescription-drug coverage to remain under one plan. Many of these plans also provide both dental and vision care services, this is important to keep in mind given that original Medicare doesn’t cover these additional services. Part D plans cover the cost of prescription drugs again not included in Original Medicare.
